Designed as a place of work for 700 of CEGID's 1,300 employees, the new premises opened in December 2003.
A reminder of Lyon's Industrie district in Vaise, the former "halle de la navigation" (navigation covered market) on the right bank of the Saône is the main feature around which the new CEGID head office is laid out.
"It was important to retain this remnant of the waterway history and activity, which was so prominent here in the past. This 19th century building with its wooden framework was used as a dry dock for the barges which traded up and down the river", Aymeric ZUBLENA says.
80m long and 20m wide, this hall has today been fully restored. On either side, two main glass buildings have been built: a rectangular one to the South, an a "U"-shaped one to the North. "Their glass structure creates a "shimmering" effect on both sides of the hall," the architect indicates.
