As a major european metropolitan area, Greater Lyon gets involved in european projects about economic development. Greater Lyon participated actively within the INTERREG IIIC programme which was designed to strengthen economic and social cohesion in the European Union (EU) by promoting interregional co-operation.

Our european projects

Greater Lyon got involved more specifically in 2 projects:

competitiveness focusing on clusters (COMPETE) and
regeneration of brownfield sites (BERI)

Thanks to these past experiences, we prepare a new plan as part of the INTERREG IVC programme nowadays…

INTERREG IIIC: What does it mean?

INTERREG IIIC is an EU-funded programme that helps Europe’s regions form partnerships to work together on common projects.

By sharing knowledge and experience, these partnerships enable the regions involved to develop new solutions to economic, social and environmental challenges.

The INTERREG IIIC programme is financed by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF), as part of the Structural Funds, and co-financed by national project partners.

The application period is 2002-2006. All activities will be finalised by end of 2008.
