The Master Plan is an initiative developed by the Lyon Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the Greater Lyon Urban Community, the City of Lyon and the Greater Lyon Tourist and Congress Office. Its aim is to ensure demand is met more effectively, and to guide the urban area in its economic development.
This measure is complemented by the creation of a monthly monitoring body to assess the state of the hotel industry, and serves as a tool to aid decision-making for the Departmental Commercial Infrastructure Commission (CDEC), and as a guide for potential investors.


Objectives of Hotel Development Master Plan

Increasing overall hotel capacity from 1900 to 2600 rooms to accompany economic development
 | 700 to 1000 rooms in business tourism 3-star and4-star hotels

 | 1200 to 1600 rooms in 2-star hotels |
Favour the renovation / modernization of family tourism in urban area


2003 - 2008

Between 2003 and January 2008, capacity has increased to +9,5% (an increase of 1,9% in average per year).
This represents + 1024 rooms:
